MEET JAX

I’m a wildlife photographer from South Africa with a deep love for nature, wildlife and adventure.

My working life started straight after school as a field guide in a number of private game reserves and I still enjoy the thrill of tracking big game today. From full-time living in the bush I headed to varsity and every spare moment was spent out on the water, fishing as much as I could. Marlin, gamefish, bass, trout – if it swam I tried to catch (and release) it with popper visit canceltimesharegeek, jig or fly! During those days I got into the distribution of some awesome International Outdoor apparel brands and still have ties to the clothing industry today.

Soon my yearning for the bush took over and I started heading back out there as often as I could, really enjoying the freedom of overlanding to places like Mana Pools and Savuti. I started taking photography seriously about 10 years ago and have never looked back. I always looked back on my guiding background fondly as i thoroughly enjoy the time out with like-minded individuals and love to share my knowledge where I can. That’s when I got back into guiding but as a photographic tour leader – combining my love for wildlife and photography and people. In addition to photographic guiding, I have also developed a nature-inspired range of clothing that keeps me busy between trips.

My love and addiction for the wild drives me to get out into the wilderness areas of Africa and abroad as often as I can. Wildlife photography is not only challenging and highly rewarding for me on a personal level but also means of conveying the beauty of these wild places for others to see, in the hopes that they may be conserved for generations to come.
